New Features / Improvements
Increased Terrain Detail in Viewport (4x) We have significantly improved the viewport terrain renderer and can now display up to four times more terrain detail in real-time. This means that when working with terrain precision settings above 4K, the additional resolution is now properly visible directly in the viewport.
New Distribution Category: Pattern A new distribution category called Pattern has been added. This category includes new distributions such as Dots, Grid, Maze, Spiral, and Splatter, allowing you to easily create common texture and mask patterns for more controlled terrain texturing and effects. More pattern distributions will be added in the coming weeks.
AgX Tonemapping World Creator now supports AgX Tonemapping, providing improved color response and more cinematic, film-like rendering results in the viewport.
Automatic Crash Reporting
World Creator now automatically uploads a crash log to our servers whenever the application encounters an unexpected crash. The report contains technical error information only — no personal or sensitive data is collected - promised!
This allows us to identify issues more efficiently and deliver fixes faster, improving overall stability and reliability.
Improved UI Rendering Performance We have optimized the UI rendering pipeline, resulting in a noticeable performance boost. This improvement will be especially noticeable on lower-end or older GPUs, making the overall user experience smoother and more responsive.
Sand Simulation Performance Significantly Improved We have heavily optimized the Sand Simulation, resulting in a major performance boost. In most cases, the simulation now runs up to 250% faster, allowing for quicker iteration and smoother real-time workflows.
Lowest Biome No Longer Uses Distributions Distributions have been disabled for the lowest biome layer, as they do not provide meaningful benefits at that level and often caused confusion. All biomes above the base biome continue to fully support distributions as before.
Fixes
Fixed a crash when exporting a Splat Map while materials were disabled in the UI.
Fixed a crash when exporting objects while the Generate Objects option was disabled in the toolbar.
Fixed an issue where the terrain could appear black after changing the terrain size while the generator was active.
Fixed a crash that could occur after toggling High VRAM Mode and attempting an export.
Fixed an issue related to EXR stamp import/export.
Fixed a potential crash when compressing certain texture formats.
Fixed a potential crash in the integrated video player.
Fixed incorrect TOPO Map rendering and occasional black screen issues when using the denoiser on AMD GPUs.
